VBS was going great up until about 7:30. A major storm blew through knocking out power to the church and most of Monticello. Due to this Family Night was canceled. We did however have the refreshments that were scheduled for that night. People that wanted to go home went and some stayed for the refreshments. Everyone ate by candlelight or flashlights. It made for an interesting night.

During recreation the students tried to cross the Red Sea with the help of their friends.

Preschool kids also had to cross the Red Sea during recreation.

Also, during Bible Bayou, Doug explained the story of the parting of the Red Sea.

The students then crossed the Red Sea after it was parted.

Then all of a sudden the storm clouds rolled in.

As a result of the storm, we had to move from crossing the Red Sea to playing hot potato.

Calvary Baptist Vacation Bible School

Family Night starts at 8 pm tonight. All family is welcome to come and see their child shine at the closing ceremony of VBS. We enjoyed being with your child this week. They were a blessing to us.

Calvary Baptist Vacation Bible School

Today was the most interesting of VBS this week. The children are learning to not be afraid because Jesus is with us. The Preschool kids got first hand what this was like. While the preschool was in music, the lights went out. The room had no windows, so it was dark. Kids were screaming and scared. After learning first hand about being scared, they were allowed to play on the playground until everyone was OK.

Michael portrayed Jesus in the closing ceremony. He showed the kids how you lay your problems at the cross and Jesus takes them away.

Calvary Baptist Vacation Bible School

Today was just as exciting as the first day of VBS, Today’s lesson was about Pharaoh and his bullying. We learned about the plaques that God sent upon him if he didn’t let his people. Here are some pics from tonight’s VBS.

I got the chance to play Pharaoh. It was kind of comforting that the when the kids were asked who they were afraid of they said Mrs. Arnold.
