Poland Day 1
Jun 30th, 2009 by Lou

So this is just basically my journal entries.

—Casscoe, AR to Little Rock, AR

We got up and left around 7 am. We were to be in Little Rock at 9:30. Michael took me to the airport to meet up with the other 9 team members going to Poland. We were there are about 9 am so we had to wait a little bit. While waiting, we walked around the airport. When the other team arrived, we went and got out tickets. There was some problem with the tickets, but everyone eventually got theirs. Our flight began by being delayed one hour, so we all hung out in the terminal. Michael called several times. I think it is so cute that he is nervous about me not being with him. This is why I love him so much. Finally, we boarded the plane at around noon.

—Little Rock, AR to Charlotte, NC

This was a very quick flight. I was very nervous. I thought I was going to be sick at take-off. It is scary to think you are way up in the air above all things. It was almost like being in heaven. I did manage to get some picture for Ashton. He always wondered what the tops of clouds looked like. I hope he enjoyed it. After a little after an hour, we arrive in Charlotte. I told you that it was a quick flight.

—Charlotte, NC to Munich, Germany

We had about a 3 hour lay-over in Charlotte. Charlotte is a hour ahead of Arkansas. Once we got there we checked in and ate lunch. The softball girls went to get pizza. I went with Tracy, Jeff, and Carolyn to a bagel sandwich shop. Yeah you read that right. It was a sandwich on a bagel. I got a herb and cheese bagel with turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayonaise. Much to my surprise it was very good. I actually ate all of it. After eating, we all went back to the terminal and waited. I worked on my puzzle book. Finally, we boarded the plane. I was in row 58. It was the very last row, (literally). I was in the center seat. Upon arriving, I noticed monitors in the headrest. I was in awe. I found several movies that interested me. The first movie, I watched was He’s Not That Into You. It was an awesome movie. During the move, we had snacks (pretzels and cokes). I hate pretzels but ate them anyways. I wasn’t sure what supper was going to be. When it arrived, it was actually really good. It was salad, tomato pasta, and brownie. I are every bit of it, well except for the mushrooms. After supper, I drank hot tea. After supper I watched another movie. I should have slept but I didn’t. Several reasons why. The kid in front of me was screaming and the seat would not lean back being in the back row. Right now, I have 2 hours left on the flight. I must sleep but nope was not going to happen. Excitement for this flight was a medical doctor was called to the front of the plane to help a passenger. The doctor was sitting right in front of me. I wish I could understand German so I would know what is going on. Guess it is really none of my business.

Tomorrow, I will embark on an adventure of a lifetime. At 11:30 am tommorrow, I will be on a plane to Krakow, Poland. I will be sharing this experience with 6 girls from the UAM softball team and 3 others from Journey Church. We will be assisting missionaries already on the field by conducting sports clinics during the day. At night, they will be helping Polish students practice conversational English in addition to seeing historical and cultural places like Auschwitz and Wawel Castle.

Please pray that we are able to use this experience to further spread God’s word.

For the past couple of weeks, several celebrities have died. (Ed McMahan, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson). Did we expect this to happen? Two of them, we knew was going to go, but Michael Jackson we didn’t expect. All three of these had a past, so let’s not judge them on who they were. Respect their families and pray for them (no matter what they may have done). Someone is hurt because of their loss and we shouldn’t criticize their loved one.

The point is….Life is short. We need live life to the fullest and honor God in all ways..

West Memphis High Class of 1999
Jun 26th, 2009 by Lou

BlueDevil

The West Memphis High School Class of 1999 had their high school reunion on June 12 – 13th. It was a lot of fun. Not many showed up, which was a shame. Guess I can’t say much we didn’t even have ours because of no interest. None the less, it was great seeing some of the people that Michael grew up with. It is amazing how some still act like they are in high school and some have grown up to be professionals in their community. I guess this happens everywhere.
