I thought I would try to do some children’s literature books that I love on Friday. I can’t read a novel very fast but I go through about 10 children’s books a week between my students and kids. Here is one of my favorites.
This is the latest book that I bought for Kaylee. Ella, Of Course by Sarah Weeks is about a pig that is a great problem solver (much like my Kaylee). Ella finds a way to help everyone, until one day she begins to cause the problems. I would say this would be a must in any children’s literature libraries.
I had a chance to meet Sarah Weeks this week at a Reading Conference in Little Rock. Sarah has such a great spirit. She is a Mac person and will tell you that. (I threw that plug in for Michael and Jeff.) While I met with her, I got her to sign the book for Kaylee.
I am thankful for…
Got this Information Questionnaire from Shelley.
1. Number of pets you have adopted or rescued over your lifetime: Too many to name, if you count childhood. I saved cats, dogs, birds, mice (yes the household mice), Guinna pigs (You name it)
4. Favorite lunch: Pollo fundido and cheese dip at Ameca
6. Name an interesting family “secret”: If it is a secret…then why would I tell you. I am kind to the legendary Jesse James though.
7. Give us another one: Geez, what is with the secrets. My Dad wanted to name me after my grandmother, Maudie Bell. Thank God she stepped in and told him not to do that to a child. So I settled with Lowery for my middle name (grandmother’s maiden name)
9. What I wanted to be when I grew up: A news broadcaster. The Jonesboro school shootings stopped that. I would never be able to interview middle school children shortly after they saw their friends shot and killed. This is what inspired me to be a teacher. Shanon Wright, was a teacher there, she stepped in front of a deadly bullet to save a child. She is my hero. We need more of them.
11. An insult that has been given to me: You are not good enough to be a mother. (good thing I don’t take insults serious)
12. Favorite color of clothing: browns and yellow
13. How many trees in your yard? 0 they are on the surrounding properties, but there is a lot of those.
15. Meanest or craziest thing you’ve ever said: I use to kick boys in the not so nice play when I was in first grade.
