Sep 27th, 2008 by Lou

We spent the day in Lake Village at my brother’s house. We had lots of fun fishing and boating on his pond.

Parade Day
Sep 23rd, 2008 by Lou

Ashton was in the parade. He just loves being in anything that gives him attention except for sports. Ashton rode on the soccer float. If you look closely, he is in the far right.

Teaching?
Sep 14th, 2008 by Lou

Think twice before going into teaching.  It is not an easy profession.  It is truly a profession that you must be called from God.  I found this on a fellow second grade teacher’s blog who lives in the Great Lakes Area.

Here’s is here blog post.

Seven years ago, a princess was born. In her family were a brother just one year older, a sister in second grade, a 12 year old brother, a beautiful Mommy, a Daddy, a hamster, and a dog.

The princess’s big sister was in the best second grade class ever. She was beautiful and smart and funny and healthy, and she confided in her teacher that her Mommy and Daddy fought a lot. And her Daddy always threatened to take the babies and leave.

And then there was a terrible storm; many trees, utility poles and wires came down. Everyone lost power on a very cold night.
Then, at around midnight, the princess’s Daddy (even though he was a mechanic and should have known better) set up a generator IN THE HOUSE. And then he went shopping in a town very far away, to buy supplies. In the middle of the night. With trees falling everywhere, including across roads.  While the Daddy was shopping, the hamster died. Then the dog died. Then the big brother died. And the Mommy died, too. The big sister, who was in second grade, got very sick and had to stay in the hospital for days and days. The babies had to go to the doctor, but they were fine.  The big sister, who was in second grade, told her teacher that she was the one who got to choose her Mommy’s dress for burial. “She was beautiful! She looked just like a princess!” That’s because the Mommy was a princess. too.

Now that baby princess who was born seven years ago is in the best second grade class ever. And the big sister princess had to go live with her real father far, far away.  And her teacher will try very hard to maintain a professional demeanor when she has to meet with the Daddy.

Teachers are faced with this situations a lot.    Continue to pray for teachers in Monticello, Drew County, Arkansas, and the rest of the nation.    Every year, situations get worse.
