Florida Bound
Jun 26th, 2008 by Lou

The time has come and we are heading to Florida tomorrow at noon. I can’t wait. Kaylee has never been, so this will be interesting. Ashton has been twice and loved every minute of it.

This is Ashton’s first trip. He was about 9 months old. This was a crazy trip because it was right after a hurricane hit Pensacola knocking out the I-10 bridge. The very bridge that we were to take. So we had to go way out of the way to just get to Florida. Our motel that we were to stay in was badly damaged so we had to stay in Panama City. This wasn’t bad except I had to commute to Pensacola everyday to see my brother. Did I mention they were having a bikers convention in Panama City during this time? It was crazy. None the less Ashton loved it.

The second trip was in 2006 to my neice’s high school graduation. Ashton again had a blast. As you can see he was quite popular with the ladies. We were not there two minutes and he already found him a girl to hang out with on the beach. Ashton had a great time.

I hope this year will be a great one too. We are leaving Friday at noon to drive down and not coming back until late Monday.

Vacation Bible School
Jun 23rd, 2008 by Lou

Journey Church and Northside Baptist partnered together to minster to children of Monticello through Vacation Bible School. We had a blast. All of the children were engaged at every moment. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Children made many different crafts during Bible school. They made sunglass holders, Hawaiian instruments, and surf board picture frames.

Snacks were another great highlight of the weekend. The children actually got to decorate cookies with icing, M & Ms and pretzels. They were making surf boards and flip flops.

Of course there was recreation and yes that is Michael teaching it.

Yes, that is Ashton holding an iPod. No, it is not misplaced by being in this post. Ashton actually won this iPod at Bible School. He won it for bringing the most friends. He brought 3 friends this weekend. He was so excited because he has wanted one for at least 2 years now. Ashton said, “No one is going to play with my iPod, not even Daddy.”
